August TBR and July Review | Kait’s Library
AUGUST TBR
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Genre: Dystopian
I am somehow yet to read the hunger games series. I enjoy watching the movies but obviously the book is better because you get to read thoughts, not just what’s happening. Crazy enough, I HAVE read ‘Sunrise On The Reaping’. I was beyond excited for that one to come out and wanted to avoid any spoilers, so I didn’t bother reading any of the other books beforehand. It worked out perfectly in the end because it just made me look forward to the other books even more after becoming familiar with Suzanne Collins style of writing. I flew through that book and can’t imagine this won’t be the same. Now, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend skipping the series to read sunrise first, but there is no harm in doing so if you do. As long as you’ve seen the movies and are familiar with characters, you’ll be set!

JUly REVIEW
The Song Of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Genre: Historical Fiction
Reading Time/Completion: Estimated About 3 1/2 Hours and 70% Completed
If you read last month’s TBR you’ll know there were two books. Well… I started Flawless and it was exactly what I thought it would be. I could NOT get into it at all. I discussed it with a few more people and they all said the rest really are better, so I’ll try to eventually complete the book… just not as a TBR selection on the blog. I also underestimated how busy of a person I am. I wasn’t even able to finish this one *yet*.
Here Are My Thoughts So Far:
Considering the genre of the book and my general lack of interest, I thought I’d have a hard time reading this. I was impressed how quickly I got into it. It’s not as confusing as I thought it’d be either. Madeline is simply incredible, and you can tell how educated she is simply by what she’s writing and the way that she writes. The story she’s created between Patroclus and Achilles is quite beautiful. I’ll check in again next month when it’s completed!!
