Day One
My friends and I didn’t care too much about the day one performers, so we used that as our test day to figure out how the rest of the weekend was going to go. It was actually really helpful and generally just nice to have a chill day and figure out a system for the rest of the festival.
Day One Highlights:
Waylon Wyatt looked like Travis from Hannah Montana from where I was standing.
Keir and I finessed our way to front row of GA for Ella Langley.
Ian Munsick was FUN and I would absolutely pay to see him again. Getting to hear the intro to ‘Horses Are Faster’ live?! It was ethereal.
We did not stay to see Kacey Musgraves perform and no, I don’t regret missing it. I think she has a beautiful voice, but I don’t love many of her songs. We went to Slackwater instead. My friends that did stay said it wasn’t all that and we didn’t miss much so make of that what you will.
Day Two
If you hadn’t heard already, day two was an absolute shit show. However, we got to see the performers all the way up through Ty Myers. His performance was shut down near the very end, and in result of that, we didn’t get to see Ole 60, Treaty Oak Revival, Koe Wetzel, or Post Malone. I truly don’t think people understood the severity of the weather. When there is lighting the way that there was, it is completely unsafe to host a festival especially where a metal stage is involved. Not only that, but the venue also legitimately flooded it had rained so much.
So… what happened and why are people mad?
The forecast was already not looking great for the day, it was extremely windy, but there was no rain so we were good to go. We got there a bit later around 1:00 and were able to see Hudson Westbrook and Ty Myers. All artists scheduled before them were also able to perform. At around 4:30 during Ty Myers performance, mid-song he announced they were making him stop. The storm was rolling in and it was rolling in fast. Pretty much everything shut down. Food places were told to stop serving food, bars shut down, the rodeo grounds shut down, everything. They were ‘updating’ everyone in the app about what to expect. Eventually they told everyone to evacuate and that’s when things really started picking up.
We all went back to our car trying to wait it out. We spent probably two hours in a parking lot with a lack of updates but also high hopes. These two hours were honestly my highlight of the day because we were all line dancing until the rain hit. Once the rain hit, we knew it wasn’t going to be something that would pass. It was beyond downpouring and there was constant lightning. I think everyone ended up in downtown, as did we. We had some time to kill as we waited for an update. By 7:30-8ish, the storm was gone. There was still some light rain but the lightning passed and the wind had settled. People still on the grounds were being told, by festival workers mind you, '“don’t leave, Post Malone is still going to perform”. They were supposedly just going to delay the start time.
Weather was out of their control. But this is where they messed up.
They held off on canceling for way too long. Everyone got their hopes up we’d at least get to see Post Malone and it wasn’t until around 9:30-10:00 that they actually canceled. My friends and I could have gone home hours beforehand and done something else, but we stuck around Salt Lake because we were told they would let us come back once the storm cleared.
Regarding tickets, anyone with a day two ticket was not eligible for a refund. Even if they never got their wristband. Instead, Redwest offered free entry for day three to anyone that was a day two ticket holder. Which was, unpopular opinion, completely unfair to three day and single day three ticket holders. The amount of people attending day three would now be damn near doubled. None of us paid for that. They should have taken the loss and issued refunds.
Might I add, the ones that weren’t able to attend on Sunday, including my own friends, received no form of reimbursement. Three-day pass holders also received no form of reimbursement besides the discount to attend in 2026… which every other ticket holder also received.
I have very mixed feelings about the entire situation. I entirely understand why it was canceled, but the issue is the way that they handled it. Be aware of what you’re risking when you buy a ticket.
Day Three
Day three had one of the best lineups I have ever seen for a festival. I listen to every single one of the artists that performed. My experience was UNREAL.
Every single performer was incredible to watch. Some highlights:
Zach John Kings outfit lowkey made him look like a minion.
Jonah Kagen is hilarious and his engagement helped him put on one of the best shows of the day. He was cracking jokes left and right, we were all actually dying.
‘Hell Is A Dance Floor’ by Vincent Mason is a lot more depressing to hear live.
Avery Anna’s voice is insane.
Together Avery Anna and Sam Barber performed ‘Fear In God’ for the first time during Averys set, as well as ‘Indigo’ during Sams set.
Noah Kahan:
I will never get to experience Noah Kahan the way that I did at Redwest ever again. There was a random stage in the middle right side and out of nowhere, Noah Kahan popped up on that stage. It was probably 30 feet in front of me. He performed a cover song with Avery Anna and then sang ‘Maine’. I’ve listened to Noah Kahan since before Stick Season so finally getting to see him live was alone, something on the bucket list. Never would I have ever imagined I’d get to see him so close. I was indeed bawling my eyes out and absolutely lost it when he sang ‘Forever’ and then dedicated ‘Call Your Mom’ to Zuza. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to see Noah again, I truthfully can’t ever afford tickets, nor am I willing to join in on a ticket war, but I’m grateful I can at least say I got to see him at some point. This right here was a once in a lifetime experience.
The disappointing part about day three was that because everyone with day two tickets was granted access, it was packed as shit. There were so many more people, and you couldn’t get close to any of the artists unless you camped out at their stage. Regardless, it was truly the most fun day of the entire weekend.
What should I bring?
You are very limited with what can be brought inside. Especially when it comes to the size of bag + practicality. I ended up bringing a fanny pack that 1. sealed completely shut and 2. I could wear across my shoulder. I was SMART for that one. I promise you right now, you will not want a shoulder bag or some small cutesy bag that goes with the outfit. You will get so tired of carrying it around and if it can’t close entirely, you’ll probably lose things.
What was in my bag:
Water Bottle - This is something you cannot skip. All of my friends that didn’t have water kept stealing mine. You will get thirsty in the middle of a crowd and be stuck there for an hour. Bring water. They have free refill stations around the festival grounds. I just shoved a small plastic one in my bag and that was perfect. I don’t feel like they’re too strict with water bottles but if it’s metal or something larger, you’re going to want to be able to attach it to a bag.
Aquaphor, Tinted Chapstick, and Lip Oil
Portable Charger
Thread Wallet
Ibuprofen
Hand Sanitizer
Gum
DO NOT BRING:
Weapons
Outside Food or Beverages
Liquid Makeup
Umbrellas
Pretty Much Anything Unsealed
Double check with Redwest’s website as some things may have changed. Some security personnel were also stricter than others and may not let you bring in your opened lip products, gum, etc. Just keep that in mind and be prepared to throw it away.

What should I wear?
Utah weather is always bipolar so be prepared. October temps may say 70-75 but I don’t care where you’re from, a Utah 70-75 post summer is HOT. You will get sunburnt and you will be sweating. Then again, once the sun sets, it is going to be cold.
For the love. If you are wearing jeans. DO NOT be wearing high waters. Make sure your jeans are damn near about to cover your boots. For boots, break them in before the festival.
The days are long and while there are a lot of places to sit down and take a break, you’re running around, your feet will hurt, you’ll be tired, and you will probably regret your bold outfit choices. As fun as it would be to dress up for this festival, which I had originally planned to do, it’s hard to do that reliably in Utah. If you’re coming from out of state, I recommend bringing back up casual outfit options.
What I Wore:
Day One
This was the hottest day of the weekend, so I wore a tank top with a denim mini skort and boots. I was roasting the entire day, but like I said, temps drop. If we had stayed for Kacey Musgraves, I would’ve wished I at least had jeans on. This was also my only somewhat festival look from the weekend.
Day Two
The messy weather day. I went casual with a tank top, Wrangler jeans, and boots. I did purchase a hoodie on this day and I’m grateful I did because it came into use when the storm hit.
Day Three
Temperature was I believe in the 60s on this day? I went with a long sleeve, Wrangler jeans, and boots. I won’t lie; I was sweating during the day it felt so warm. However, when the temperature dropped, it dropped fast, and excessively. For Noah Kahan, I ended up putting a hoodie on and I was still pretty damn cold.
What else is there to do?
Don’t care for the artist performing? Luckily there are quite a few things to do instead. Like any other festival, there are a ton of food options, places to get alcohol, and several merch booths. They also had some other companies where you can shop such as, sheisgracielou - the famous ‘cowboy pillows’ attire, and Lonely Ghost with special edition Redwest pieces. I actually ended up getting the Lonely Ghost Redwest hoodie because it was way cuter than the actual Redwest Merch. They had the same hoodie design in a T-shirt as well. If they return this year and have something like that again, don’t wait to purchase because they sold out last year.
Aside from the basic things to do, my friends and I spent most of our free time in the rodeo grounds swing and line dancing. The rodeo grounds also had some additional options for shopping featuring a thrifting bus as well as… ANIMALS!! They had a small petting zoo which was kind of fun.
Will I be going again?
Short answer, probably not.
The lineup this year is shit if I’m being honest. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ella Langley. I saw Ella front row of GA last year. But I will never get that experience ever again. Almost all of the big performers were there last year. Tucker Wetmore is new, but I’ve already seen him in concert. Saturday doesn’t even have one main headliner. I think a lot of us were hoping for new performers.
For the cost and after everything that happened, this year feels like quite the rip off. I paid $300 for three days last year with an insane lineup and this year it’s $244 for two days and a bunch of artists I saw last year. They offered a discount for everyone that attended last year, but again, everyone. 3-day ticket holders got no sort of reimbursement for missing part of a day. I don’t care too much about that, I’m not going to throw a fit about it, I still feel like I got my money’s worth, but I do think the discount should’ve been just for 3-day ticket holders. I know them not offering anything for those ticket holders or people that missed day 2 in its entirety has affected a lot of people’s decisions towards attending this year.
People I’d pay to see: Lainey Wilson, Laci Kaye Booth, Stephen Wilson Jr, Cody Johnson, Florida Georgia Line, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Combs, Mason Ramsey, The Cadillac Three, Bailey Zimmerman, Emily Hollingshed, Carly Pearce, Hunter Hayes, y’all they had so many options. I could drag this list on and on.
If the festival happens in 2027 and has a better lineup, I’d probably look into going again. This year though, it’s not in the cards for me.
